Hi
First I want to tell you,I went threw the samething as far as wanting to get pregnet, But I wasn't getting my Period, Well Ask Your Doctor for Provera, That is the medicine that I took to get my period, also if you take your tempature every morning, before you get out of bed,Before you drink coffe, First thing when u open yr eye's take your temp. Write it down, If you get a higher Tempature, and then a Drop back down,Look for the Temp, Rise, That is when your are Ovulating, so that's the time for 2 day's have sex, and also you can ask yr doctor if they have a chart, a Ovulation Chart, This is the quickest way to get pregnet, and if yr a stresful person, be calm relax, all these small thing's are Important, Well Good  Luck to you, Oh also I remember we had moved to the Country, I was so calm there and I got pregnet,  My youngest son is now 17 yr's old =) Sincerely A friend who care Colleen.
PS you can ask me any questions if you like, Have a great day =)

What were the actual test results and reference ranges?  If you don't have the results and ranges, I suggest that you call and get these numbers and post them here so that members can help interpret and advise further, before your Dec. appointment.

Do you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?  This is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack and slowly destroy your thyroid.  It's very possible when one has Hashi's, to swing back and forth between hypo and hyper.  The only other thing I can say is that your medication is not adjusted properly, but without the right information, we can't know that.

It sounds like your doctor is only testing TSH and so long as that's all they are doing, you aren't going to get the proper care.  As gimel said, you need to be tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones - Free T3 and Free T4.

You might also ask for a thyroid ultra sound; and yes, I agree that your other hormones need to be checked as well.

Not having your period is pretty serious.  Your hypothyroid is obviously not being treated right.  Have your doctor test you again more thoroughly and try to get your hormone levels normal before you get pregnant.  You probably need a higher dose of medicine.  Also, levothyroxine is not as effect as the brand name Synthroid.  My endocrinologist told me that himself.  I would suggest switching to Synthroid or whatever other brand name medicine your doctor suggests.

Do you have symptoms that might suggest that your meds are inadequate to prevent still being hypo?  If your doctor is only testing you for TSH, then I think it would be worthwhile to ask the doctor to test your actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, which are free T3 and free T4.   Note that these tests are not total T3 and total T4, which are somewhat obsolete and not very helpful.  Also be aware that FT3 and FT4 results that just fall in the lower end of the range are frequently associated with hypo symptoms.  If your doctor resists testing for FT3 and FT4, then you should insist on it and not take no for an answer.

When test results are available, then get a copy of the lab report and post results and reference ranges, and members will be able to help interpret and advise further.
