iodine supplements

Hi my question is l have just ordered  some Iodine supplements that contains both iodine
and selenium, as well as Vitamin B2 (riboflavin),but after reading the posts here and information on the intranet l am totally confused as to if it is safe for me to be taking the supplements l have just ordered. Especially as I was diagnosed with Hashi's approx. three years ago after a spell of hypothyroidism which was corrected with a small dose of thyroxine (25mg) for 3mth. After stopping the thyroxine, a year later l got a large goiter and was diagnosed with Hashi's, I  take 112.5mg of  Synthroid daily, is it safe for me to take the supplements and reduce the Synthroid as l am trying to find away of reducing the effects of taking these drugs, not only can l not lose weight l also keep getting really painful mouth and tongue ulcers  which research has suggested can be a side effect of thyroid problems. Please can anyone help

Iodine is not recommended when one has Hashimoto's, as it can exacerbate the problem.

"not only can l not lose weight l also keep getting really painful mouth and tongue ulcers  which research has suggested can be a side effect of thyroid problems."    You're right, they are side effects of thyroid problems, "not" the medication!!  Both inability to lose weight and mouth ulcers can be symptoms of under medication.

If you will please post your most current thyroid lab results, we will be able to better assess, both, your testing and treatment.  Be sure to include reference ranges with any lab results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
