kidney donor recipient with thyroid cancer

My husband received a new kidney last year. He was doing great, but has been recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Is there anyone who has had the radiation treatment, and how did it affect them? So far, he is feeling awful, and this is just the iodine elimination period. His new kidney is under stress, and it is very scary for us.

Talk to the transplant team - there will be radiation collected in the liver, colon, bladder, salivary glands, and kidneys as the body works to eliminate the radiation.   Your transplant team needs to have a long talk with the radiation department at the hospital(s) involved and see if there will be any effect to the kidney - especially function and the suture lines.
