meds

I have been on levothyroxine for three years . The other day on my way out of town i picked up my meds and was off for three weeks. Two days into my trip i took one that night, the next morning i did not feel right but went one. That night i took another the next morning i had a horrible headache,my eyes were blurred,i could fell my heart betting really hard and fast in my head and very dizzy. I thought this is great i am half way across the country and i am getting sick. That night i took my pill the next morning i could not focus and was not well at all. I called my dr. to see if he changed my meds and he said no that i was probley just tired from the trip,i new that was not the case. I do not take any other meds so it had to be the thyroid med. I did not take any that night and by about 7pm the next night i felt a tiny bet better. The next night i took a half of the pill and the next morning it was so bad i could hardley get around.I tryed to call my dr. back but could never get to talk to him so i only took one half every other night. I got home and went in the next day to see my gp.she took one look at me and wanted to know what i was taking, my eyes were blood shot glassed over and my pupiles were little dots. All this to ask if this has ever happened to any of you? Thanks for any input.

Yeah, that happened to my son. He was started on Levothyroxine, and one week later he collapsed on the kitchen floor - passed out, just a few seconds. Had severe dizziness, nausea and tachycardia after. Turned out he had adrenal insufficiency, so he was immediately started on a full replacement dose of hydrocortisone, which unfortunately, only made him feel worse, for a very long time. (He has a pituitary tumor)

Thyroxine effects your cortisol level, so while you are getting your thyroid hormones retested, have morning cortisol tested too.

Need to check with pharmacy what they actually gave you.  Maybe something wrong with the prescription or the batch of meds.

Then need thyroid testing - TSH, FT3, FT4.

What you describe doesn't sound like a typical reaction to thyroid meds. Something else happening.

The only way to know if it was pituitary source would be testing - low TSH, or other tests.

Losing vision, but on the sides, is a sign, but not what you are describing.
