should i stop taking pills?

its 4 years that i started to gain weight and have psychological problems like mild depression.I used to get angry most the time and my bone density was getting lower in a way that doctors prescribed me to take vitamin D and calcium regularly as i was at risk for osteoporosis.I also had high blood lose for periods.and sometimes not regular/for this reason i was referred women health doctor and they told me i have female hormonal problem..i was under treatment with birth control hormonal pills for few months but then it made my situation even worse as my depression and other physical problems started to begin..at the doctors guest all of my problems can be cause of my thyroid problem..they thought maybe something wrong with my thyroid..till 2 years ago am checking my thyroid regularly...i dont have all of my test results right now but all i remember that my Tsh was at borders (4 to 5).and my Tpo was at very high range ( ?>600).according to my test results doctors got worried that i maybe at hypothyroid risk and then it can turn to hashimato cause my mom also had same problem.however most of doctors idea was to not start taking any pill for my thyroid now /for their idea it was better to start  treat meant when my Tsh was higher than 5 or 6... among doctors that i know only one of them pressurized me to start to take pills now.he told me its better to prevent your further thyroid problem from now cause it can effect ur heart health later on if u take pills that much late...it came rational to me and i started to take lyothyronine first instead of levothyroxine cause levothyroxines side effect was intolerable for me.high heart beats at nights..etc.i took lyothyroine for 3 months then 3 more months i took levothyroxine.after overall 6 months taking pills now  my tsh is 2.1... t4 RIA is 8.8... Free T4 is 17.1..TPO is very highhhh 1955. doctor wants me to continue taking levothyroxin pills for more 6 months..this is when he was promising am gonna cut taking pill at most in 6 months but he wants me to take more 6 months too:(.he tells the reason is that if i cut pills now as my body is not adapted to stay at these ranges the probability of having high Tsh again is high cause my body still is not adapted to keep its self at 2/1 Tsh..i don t understand my doctor and i wanna cut my pills as soon as possible cause i think it effects my bone density baldly...my nails breaks easily and my bones getting narrower..my arms always tired and my muscles r becoming thinner and my neck muscle are always stretch just like old people...even recently i feel like my depression and empty feelings started all again...i get moody and angry lot..i wanna know is it time to cut my pills? was i right to start taking pills now?sometimes i regret for it...or is it i face these problems cause my pill doze are not appropriate for my body.lemme tell u i take 50 levothyroxine daily.please help me..i really wanna stop taking pills

I agree that you should not stop taking your pills; your TSH will go up again, and your FT4 will come down; you don't want that.

Your symptoms are typical of hypothyroidism, which is caused by the Hashimoto's.

You will most likely have to be on the thyroid replacement for life.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is irreversible in the vast majority of cases with the exception of rare cases of remission.  It is usually necessary to treat Hashimoto's thyroiditis for life and your thyroid replacement dosage may have to be adjusted from time to time.

The newest Korean study [Lee, M. et. Al. "Bone Mineral Density and Bone Turnover Markers in Patients on Long Term Suppressive Levothyroxine Therapy for Differentiated Thyroid Cancer," Abstracts of the American Thyroid Association Annual Meeting, 2011] found long term suppressive levothyroxine therapy does not affect bone density or increase the prevalence of osteoporosis.
