strange tsh

Hi Everyone,

I started taking tapazole 30 mg a day and my doctor noticed that my tsh is getting lower currently.
It is down to 0.04 post tapazole... He told me to continue taking my 30 mgs a day dosage. He seems a bit confused by  my thyroid's behavior currently. My eye swelling went down initially with the tapazole. I am afraid of things getting worse now. He wants me to check my T3 levels now.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

wow, you sound like me...
Wouldn't the low numbers mean that we are experiencing suppressed thyroid hormones???
I am really hungry all the time too.. I eat hershey bars, chips and snacks the entire night,.. I only think about food...  Has your face gotten puffy too???

Hello,  Yeap I have hyperthyroid as well, my numbers started at 0.00 and in six months went to 0.004 this is with 40mg of methimazole and I just started 80mg a day. I will go back in 6 weeks for more blood work. my t3 free was 2.8 in september 2008. I dont know what the recent one is.
Sometimes I feel crazy!!  heart palpitations..sweating in 20 degree weather...next time I am freezing.  shakey...moody..emotional..hungryyyyy..although I lost 70lbs the first six months now I am drowning in water weight.  It gets very frustrating.

I am hyperthyroid... I was diagnosed with Thyrotoxis many years ago..
My thyroid has strange periods.. Sometimes it is normal and other times it is hyper.. It is just crazy... I have experienced hypo and hyper symptoms... My doctor is trying to get my TSH higher @ the 3-5 range. Someday's I feel cold and other day's I have to lay around my house only in undergarments..( I am so hot)
My thyroid is getting more hyper it seems with tapazole.. o.o4.  My doctor plans to check my T3 levels next..  I just have something bizarre going on with my thyroid..
I just wondered, if anyone here has experienced a crazy thyroid...

Hi there and welcome! I am a bit confused....if you are hyperthyroid, then you should be trying to increase your TSH not lower it. The tapazole is for patients who are hyper and your tsh should be increasing to normal values. The normal range for TSH is .30-3.0.
You should also be having a free t4 and free t3 test done with the tsh to get an accurate look at your levels. Are you seeing an endo or thyroid specialist?
