Looks like something with the collagene, a connective tissue disorder, could be genetic (late signs) or autoimmune.....Yes you must see a doctor, Rheumathologist or internal medicine (in my opinion)
You should start with simple blood tests. Many of your symptoms are the same as my hyperthyroid.
Rubbery face? Many of my friends commented,"OMG! You've lost so much weight!" I haven't lost a single pound. I just figured that I turned 50 and my face caved in. Just a natural part of the aging process. Maybe it is thyroid related?
My advice is find a Dr. and request a TSH test. That's a good place to start.
Most people complain of symptoms, here are the common symptoms and signs of hyperthyroidism:
Palpitations
Heat intolerance
Nervousness
Insomnia
Breathlessness
Increased bowel movements
Light or absent menstrual periods
Fatigue
Fast heart rate
Trembling hands
Weight loss
Muscle weakness
Warm moist skin
Hair loss
Staring gaze
this all started happening to me after a stressful event, I also have major rumbling stomach in the evenings as of late as well as some heartburn. I am thinking my digestion is working way too fast(noticeable food in stools). I have read of the thyroid gland being palpable in hyperthyroid and I do see a small lump below my adams apple when I swallow but i can't be sure if it is just my windpipe. Is it possible for stress to throw your thyroid out of whack?
thanks to all in advance
Stress can triger thyroid disease. I found out I had Hashi during a period of stress (work), I was ok until then. But remember there are other autoimmune diseases. When you wrote about signs (rubber...) you didn't wrote about the other symptoms and signs (lump in the thyroid), so may be you should first go to an ENDO.
ok so I have had thyroid tests and I haven't heard back for 2 weeks now....so I am assuming all was normal. Does anyone think that my problem can be due to anxiety and stress?
I just go back for what I said first, if it's not thyroid related so check autoimmune diseases (Rheumatologist). I would start with ANA's, ds DNA, C-reactive protein, ....
I have all those same symptoms after a stressful event about 7 years ago. I'm now 49. . Have also been tested for thyroid disease and was neg. but I hear the blood test are not good indicators. I went on a gluten and soy free diet last week. Don't see any difference yet on my face but I think has helped a little with my fatigue. Have u had any luck?
This is a very old thread, from 2009, and doubtful that posters here will answer. If you will post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges, along with symptoms you are having, members will be glad to try and assess your status.
I see this is very old but I am having same symptoms as freakedout88. Did you ever find out what was going on and did you correct it? Long story short, I had hyperthyroidism and a partial thyroidectomy 3 years ago. I am not on any medication currently and I feel as though I am hyper again. I am in the process of getting bloodwork and going back to endo. Originally they said next available appointment was in May but I can not live like this. They were able to move it to feb 5th. I have other symptoms too. What freaked out 88 said was ehat I am experiencing almost identical.
