I suggest that you go in for some testing. The specific tests you should request would be for the thyroid antibodies, TPO ab and TG ab. Also, request testing for Free T3 and Free T4 (not Total T3 and Total T4) , along with TSH. If the doctor resists testing for FT3 and FT4, then just insist on it and don't take no for an answer. Since hypothyroid patients frequently are deficient in other areas, suggest tests for Vitamin D, B12, ferritin, and a full iron test panel.
Even if results fall within the so-called "normal" ranges, that does not mean they are adequate for you. When test results are available, please get a copy of the lab report and post results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report and members will be glad to help interpret results and advise further.
