love your name - very cool - yes I met a gal who said she had been on Lithium for some years and then became hypo thyroid and now on both meds - what a drag - I became hypo I know at 16 but my mom took me to doctor and he missed it as did many more doctors until I literally was wearing bandanas to cover the bald spots - sometimes they're just too busy to care - hope you're doing well ms. moonwind :)
thanks i wish the docs would check the thryoid on a reular basis. I went to the endo todya and my tsh is great and I feel pretty good too. been a long time coming. glad you like the name.
are you taking anythjing now for your thryoid?
Love Venora
They gave me Lithium when they did my RAI in 2005. They said it causes the Thyroid to absorb more iodine. They use it as part of the regular RAI Treatments along with Thyrogen. They said that past research has shown that people taking Lithium had thryoid problems from absorbing too much iodine, so they knew (they being anyone guess) but do they apply it, not always. I guess that is why they call it "practicing" medicine. Hopefully you are lucky enough to get a good Doctor who knows what, how, when and why to look for something.
I was/am lucky enough to have found some very smart Doctors. Thank God for smart Doctors. I had a PET/CT scan on 10/19/07 and it came back all clear, that's two clear scans in a row.
