Thank you both, sorry I didn't see that anyone posted. I've since seen the surgeon, and I'm having a thyroid lobectomy on Aug 9. They'll send the tissue off, but he said it was COLD on the uptake scan, (I think or warm, whichever was good news) because that meant that it was most likely NOT cancerous. As it stands, it hurts when it's "that time of the month" and so I'm looking forward to it being gone. When it was measured it was 3cm. The Dr. stated that he usually took them out at 1cm. Glad I found it!
Not all nodules or tumours are cancerous.
I had a Pit. Gland tumour which was benign so until the tumour is removed...no-one can really be 100% sure.
And if it is cancerous, RAI will be organised for you and that will sort it all out.
I have never heard of anyone dying from thryoid cancer.
So put yr mind at ease
Hugs x
If it grows in the matter of days, it most likely a sign of an internal bleeding within the nodule, which could be there for quite some time before but got unnoticed.
Normally, the benign nodules are growing 8% of their diameter per year.
