You should have the surgery as soon as you can. You don't want to wait too long and maybe risk any complications or anything. ( just my opinion). Does your Endo have a surgeon to send you to?
I had a partial thyroidectomy. I had a nodule on my left thyroid. It was not cancerous so I still have the right thyroid. They take the middle (isthmus) out also.
If all goes well, your surgery will take anywhere from 45 min to 1 1/2 hrs. I stayed overnight in the hospital( as everyone does).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate. Everybody on the forum is really sweet and helpful.
I have a large nodule on my left lobe. I had a fna June 19th and it came back as atypical. The doc said it was hard to say weather it was benign or malignant so he said I should have it removed. I am having the whole thyroid removed on September 5th. I wish it was sooner but this is the earliest the surgeon could do it. My endo seemed to think that that amount o waiting time is ok.
Thank you for your input. I do have a surgeon. I was just wondering since I have been told that Thyroid cancer is so slow growing. I guess I wondered if waiting seven months was ok. I was scheduled to go abroad but I know my health comes first.
