I was diagnosed 9 yrs ago with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. I have been on synthroid with a slow increase through the years. Due to dr. changes, I went without my medicine for 4-6 weeks. I was started on 150mcg, tsh showed it was too much so I was lowered and lowered until I'm off now due to tachycardia, anxiety, fatigue, etc.. with a thyroid ultrasound result of multiple nodules.
Next step back to and endocrinologist for more testing and diagnosis. So why would I go through all of that instead of just opting for surgery in the beginning? The result of surgery can be hypothyroid which is what I've been dealing with but at least I would know my thyroid couldnt ever grow cancerous cells again. Why not go straight for surgery? And is there a surgery that is done through the mouth instead of an incision in the throat?
Thanks for helping me try to make sense of what genetics have thrown my way!
Sincerely,
Mary Lynch
