MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I am sorry to hear about your sister. By now you must have had most answers. If her vitals are stable, then she may pull through. This is a grey zone in medical world. How and when and if at all a person will recover from coma is very difficult to predict. It may be next minute or it may take months at times. You have to be in touch with the treating neurologists as they will be in a better position to throw some more light on her condition. Not much as this is a wait and watch time on life support systems. Take care!

My son was in an accident in June of 08 and had bleeding his his brain in several places. He was not expected to live and he stayed in a coma for 7 days.  When he did come to he was doing the same thing your sister is doing. He was drawing his arms up and throwing his legs and arms around. If she is throwing her arms and legs then I believe that she is trying to come out of her coma.  Our bodies seem to react to brain injury by causing comas. This may be its way of healing.  I don't know but I do know that lots of prayer will defintely help.  Hopefully since this has been over month you have some sign of hope by now. By the way, drs gave us very little hope of survival and if he did survive he would never walk, talk, etc... He did survive and he walks, talks, rides a bicycle, etc.. He does have a brain injury and is not as he was but we deal with it as I'm sure your family will also.
