I almost just ate raisin bread that had pink worms on it...I took one bite of a piece of regular bread that was next to the raisin bread in a package I had, which I suppose I kept for too long (hence the worms), and noticed the worms dead on the raisin bread that I had just toasted. I got rid of the bite I took from the regular toast, rinsed my mouth out with water, then threw all of it away. I'm glad I read this thread and the one from a year ago, it's probably not so bad.

I often eat raisins.  and my grandkids love them.  I have never have seen any bugs or worms.  I hope we did not eat any bugs.  it might be wise to take this up with your doctor.  I think you will be fine it is according to what kind of bug and worms  you ate.  good luck.  mandy876

Forgot to mention that if you have the box, you should inform the company and your environmental health department.

Sometimes it may be a warehouse problem when a warehouse bug may lay eggs into the fruit before they are packaged.  Other times it may be where you have stored them in your own home.

Some years ago whilst unwrapping a Cadbury Christmas novelty chocolate there was a big fat grub with a brown head.  Luckily, I did look at the chocolate before eating it.  It turned out that it was the warehouse moth that had laid its eggs and it hatched out in the warm of my house.  These days the chocolates are wrapped in completely sealed packaging.  Since that time I will not buy any chocolates that are just wrapped in foil.

If you store any cardboard wrapped products like cereals and store flour for a long time, you may also observe little mites crawling about.  We probably eat lots of creepy things that we are not aware of or cannot see properly.

Make sure that you store dried fruit in a dry and air tight container.

It depends on what type of bugs and worm it was.

It is highly unlikely though that you will get sick.
You will no doubt have chewed on the raisins and swallowed them and the digestive juices will have done the rest.

If you do get any symptoms of feeling nausea (no doubt you feel like this just at the thought of eating these extra "proteins"), vomiting or diarrhea, then you will know that eating the bugs has made you feel ill.

There was a similar posting last year and the person was fine as I remember.

I would examine the box of raisins and nuts before eating them in future.

You should be fine.
