Arm pain and tingling...Please reply!

for the past few days I've been getting this arm pain with a sudden burst of heat and tingling moving down my left arm.  when the pain first started it was in my fore arm but now its moved up passed my elbow.  The first few times it happened the bottom half of my hand went purple.  The color is back to normal but the burning sensation isn't going away anymore.  The good news is the pain isn't happening as often.  But when it happens it isn't a muscle cramp.  I don't really know how to explain it.  Does anyone know whats happening or what I'm talking about?  Oh and if it helps...I'm only 20 years old and absolutely no history of heart disease in my family.

Do you remember twisting it at all?  It sounds like it could be a torn muscle especially when you describe the heat and tingling feeling.  It wouldn't hurt to see what your Dr. has to say.  Try to remember what you were doing right before the burst of heat and pain started. Could you have injured it some how?

I was taking notes in my math class...and I'm right handed, my left hand was sitting on my lap.  I carry all of my bags in my right hand, I've slept in the same position for a long time now.  I don't really do a lot of physical activity.  I don't really see how I could have injured it.  But I do have a really bad memory so I guess I could have hit it or pinched it some how haha.  Oh, and it isn't muscle pain its nerve pain.  Its never happened before.

Hello,

There are a few possibilities which need to be ruled out. They are diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome, Golfer’s or tennis elbow, neurological disease like Charcot-Marie-Tooth disorder, osteomyelitis( inflammation or infection of bone and bone marrow),peripheral vascular disease, spondolysis, cardiac causes and thoracic outlet syndrome.

Without clinical examination and investigations diagnosis is tough.I feel that an examination by an orthopedician will be the best.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
