Burst of intense pain in the head

I am a person who has never had a history of headaches. Yesterday while working I got up and almost fell over because of the sharp burst of pain in my head. It has now continued for the last 24 hours on and off, not continuously. The pain seems to be above both temples. I am under a lot of stress in my life but I felt I was managing it well so if these are stress headaches or ice pick headaches I'm confused. Could it be something more or different then that, especially since I don't have a history of headaches at all. Also I don't seem to have any other symptoms. I am 61.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Sudden onset headache can be migraine, tension headache, benign intracranial hypertension, brain tumor or due to high blood pressure.
Please consult a doctor immediately to rule this out. Take care!

Get yourself to a Doctor or the Hospital.   It could be an anurism or something like that. Better to check it out and be sure you are safe!
