Hi guys got peunmonia in November , now have developed chronic cough everyday , when I breath in deep I want to cough has anyone experienced such a thing ,??
Did the doctor follow up with another chest xray to make sure all the pneumonia had cleared?
Sometimes a second course of antibiotics is needed, but an ongoing cough should have you seeing your doctor to see if there is some ongoing respiratory issue going on still.
Do you have an inhaler? I think they need to rename it to EXhaler!
I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.)
Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler. That nebulizer/inhaler treatment was a miracle. It (eventually) was like a lava eruption coming from my lungs.
If you don't already have an inhaler, or do not use one regularly, it might help force a clear-out of what is still triggering your cough. They love to prescribe steroids-stay away from steroids! Albuterol was amazing, eventually...
Also, after you inhale the medication, pressurize the air inside you by deep breath, hold your breath, and bear down til you feel like your eyes will pop out and your face gets red-the theory is to pressurize that medicated air into all of the nooks and crannies of your lungs throat sinuses ears. (I have long held a theory that iv chemo treatments should take place during physical exertion if the patient can tolerate it-forcing the chemo deeper/further into the smallest of veins/capillaries, which during exertion open up, or flush/sweat in other words.)
I remember quite well the last thing I cleared out a year ago because it was so fascinating. It was the size/shape/feel of a plastic guitar pick, had a flat thin shape, with a tough band around the edge, had smaller 'cells' filling the inside. It looked/felt like see-through cellophane/plastic--it greatly reminded me of dragonfly/locust insect wings?!
It took 2 months to get over RSV-thank god for health insurance or I would be dead from a heart attack due to lack of oxygen.
