I took her to the doctor and they took some blood for testing, but the results won't come back until next week. The doctor thinks it is Mono, but I still have my doubts.
Hello,
Although Kawasaki disease mostly occurs in children less than 5 years of age but some cases have been reported where it occurred in older children and teenagers also.
Whether your daughter is having Kawasaki disease or not can be confirmed after lab investigations like complete blood tests ,urine tests, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram,Creactive protein, serum albumin and transaminase. Also this disease has to be differentiated from other diseases with similar symptoms like Scarlet fever(caused by streptococcal bacteria).Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis,Stevens-Johnson syndrome( a disorder of the mucous membranes),Toxic shock syndrome and measles.
Diagnosis can only be confirmed after examination and investigations. So in my opinion, consultation of a physician will be the best.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
