The physician Hippocrates was the first to recommend the drinking of viniger (the main component of pickle juice) as a tonic over a thousand years ago. Anecdotally, it is said to help with weight loss and complexion. I have no way to verify those claims. It does sooth insect bites. That I can confirm. I learned that from my mom. At one time in life, when a teenager I developed an intense insatiable craving for pickle juice, which lasted about a year. I'm not sure why, but something in the juice made me want to drink it. The only real problem I could see is that pickle juice contains salt, and if you have high blood pressure, I might contact my physician and get an opinion on whether it is desireable.
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
There is no ham in eating pickles and drinking pickle juice as long as you are having a balanced diet and are not suffering from sore throat and sinuses.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
