Medical

Dear Doctor,

I am a 21yr old female who recently had protected sex approximately 5days ago (not for the 1st time) after my boyfriend and I had sex, the following day I got up to urinate and experienced extreem abdominal/vaginal pain at the ending of urinating, a day later I noticed that I was also lightly bleeding when urinating. Initially I thought it was a UTI so i drank lots of fluids (cranberry juice &water) but to no avail. Well its been 4 days now and I have pain in my lower abdomen even when I don't urinate. Please tell me what could be the problem and how long would it take to go away, I don't want to go to a doctor.

Just to be safe I would get an over the counter UTI test, they are like 15 dollars at the local pharmacy, I was experiencing the same thing and I took the test and tested positive for a uti.

Usually when a woman experiences lower abdominal pain after sex it is because the uterus was being hit during intercourse. This is especially common if your boyfriend is quite large or if the sex was quite rough. Being a small-sized woman or not being lubricated can also contribute to pain after sex. Generally this only lasts 4-5 days. If it lasts longer, I do suggest getting checked out to make sure no damage has been done.
Doctors deal with this kind of thing all the time so there is nothing to be concerned about. It is better than dealing with the pain, right?
