Mild numbness in left hand index finger and thumb, following neck shoulder injury

I am a 30 year old man, have mild numbness in left hand index finger and thumb, following neck shoulder stretch/injury. I still can feel hot and cold but the skin seems like covered or dead as  if it was burned, I consulted to orthopedic physician, she suggested to bring x-ray that shown C4-C5 affected. I have been taking both medicines and medical treatment for last 5 days along with PT and wearing soft collar but no relief, I still feel mild pain in the left side of the shoulder meeting spinal area. I wanted to ask:
1. Should i consult to orthopedic OR neuro physician OR surgeon?
2. Can it heal permanently and what is the time of healing?
3. Is it really serious?
