help!

hi, i've been diagnosed with GERD, gastritis, and have a few baby ulcers. i did have a cyst on my ovary, but i believe it has burst recently. i am currently on nexium 40mg once a day. today, after eating some orzo noodles with olive oil and some mixed vegetables, i had sudden diarrhea. there was no stomach pain or cramping, no burning in the normal areas, and no nausea. nothing has happened since, and it was more loose and watery then anything really and some of it was solid also.

was just wondering if this was normal/common with what i have been diagnosed with. i have been on the nexium a while and had no prior incidents or side effects with it. but i was off of it the week before my endoscopy, and restarted it about 10 days ago.

also, took a second pill later on in the day. is it safe to take it twice, and should i continue to take it twice without talking to my doctor first? my follow up visit with my doctor to actually discuss the biopsy results and everything isnt until 6 weeks from now.

thank you so much for the help. i haven't had to take a second one since. and thinking back, last time i had soft onions and peppers the same thing had happened. i had also lost my job ( some year i'm having right? lol). so i think the stress finally had caught up with me.

as far as the cyst goes, my mother said it hadn't burst (she's had them on and off all her life, even while pregnant). and i go for my second internal too. haven't been able to restart birth control due to skipping menstruation, i have lost over 35 pounds in 3 months so it is all screwed up.

but i really do appreciate all the help! :]

YES, YOUR STOMACH CAN PLAY TRICKS ON YOU. I HAVE ULCERS, CHRONIC PANCREATITIS AND GERD. NEXIUM SHOULD ONLY BE TAKEN AS YOUR DR.PRESCRIBES. IT IS A BLESSING, BUT YOU DO NOT WANT TO RUN OUT OF IT WITH YOUR STOMACH CONDITIONS.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Once in a while if is ok to take the Nexium pills twice, but do not do this daily without asking the doctor first. The symptoms could be exacerbation of the GERD. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes. You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole,  lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into and a combination antibiotic tried.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
Also if these do not then possibility of IBS, Crohn’s, celiac disease etc will have to be looked into. If you have a burst ovarian cyst, please do not ignore it and get this evaluated by a doctor soon.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
