Painful lump behind ear!

For at the very least a year now i have had a decent sized bump on the back of my ear in the crevice of where the ear and head meet, more so on the bone. at first, this was painless although it did start slowing growing. For the past few days now it is severly painful oand still growing, it is not completely round odd shaped now as if it is growing oblong, all around it it is red, i went to the urgent care, in town and they said although they thought it was a cyst they were not sure and had no way to send anything to a lab to oconfirm that it was not a benign tumor. I also have an enlarged thyroid and was curious if these two things could be related, and at this point how long can i avoid getting it cut out, also how long would i have to stay out of water( such as river water) once they do lance it ?

I think you should see another doctor....Could be a cyst but a CT scan or ultrasound might give an idea as to if it's a cyst or not.

The thyroid and ear is not related. Those are 2 different issues. I am so sorry you are hurting. Did you have an ear infection. The Urgent care shouldve sent you to an ENT. Sounds like the fluid from your middle ear backed up behind your ear and caused a bacterial infection. When they lanced it, it released all theat fluid and infection. The bacteria caused a cyst.. This infection is caused Mastoiditis. I would sschedule and appoint with an ENT and stay away from the Urgent care places. Did the Urgent Care DR put you on Antibotics? Hope you feel better.
