could be a ton of things. i know when my left arm hurts my doctor tells me to take a baby aspirin but she knows my medical history. maybe you should go get an mri ? do you get migraines at all?
You should also try checking your medication side effects. I highly recommend checking your medications to pin point the problem. I have begun taking Humira for my Crohn's Disease and my left arm feels like there are pins and needles in it. This is a side effect of my medication. So before you do anything else, please check your side effects list.
There are not enough clues here. This might be bursitis, tendinitis, rotator cuff issues, it could even be a cardiac issue I suppose. Put your fingers on the pain. Can you isolate it?
Try supporting the arm under pillows to see if it helps. If so, it may be something to do with the rotator cuff.
