Asthma ?

For the past 2-3 years, ive had a problem catching my breath and breathing after running, cycling, sports etc. But i dealt with that by drinking ridiculous amounts of water at the time and laying down.
2 months ago, I cycled to my local supermarket, as soon as I arrived there, my chest was pounding so hard and I foud it difficult to breath in as it hurt so much. After about 5-10mins of trying to calm it down, (by this time im sweating and very dizzy,) my vision blacks out and I pass out. When I woke, (about a minute or so later), my chest was still painful and felt really heavy, even my heartbeats hurt (which sounds ridiculous). My throat felt raw and I had a horrible rusty taste in my mouth. Once I reassured the onlookers and my helper that I was okay (i lied), i went home and straight to bed as i still felt dizzy.
Now, since then, I cant do anything that requires me to do anything other than walk, my chest just starts pounding too hard and I begin to lose my focus, also the rusty/metalic taste comes and I have to either sit and lean up against something or lay down.

I have family members with asthma, but they insist that I do not have it. I am over-weight, at 14stone, (im 17), but ive always been active and 'on the go' , so I cant see how my problems are caused by this.
Please help!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Overweight in itself could be causing a lot of problems. Along with that anemia is another issue that you should look at. Also you need to get your heart checked and also your blood sugar.
There is a possibility that you have acid reflux or GERD. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.

If you have no heart problems, I would suggest you enroll under a physical trainer and build up stamina. Also slowly raise your exercise levels. If you have anemia or diabetes then they would need to be corrected by appropriate medication.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I really doubt that this is asthma. If I were you I would check that you don't have any heart problems, esspecially if you're having chest pains and get tired easily. you could also be lacking certain nutrients.
