A month ago my hubby and I moved 300 miles for his work. A week later, I developed a random, strong fever that lasted one day (not sure if related to current symptoms).
2 weeks into living in this new town, I had a funny feeling in my throat, checked my tonsils and realized I had lots of pus. My throat was a bit sore for two days, nothing too bad. I had no fever at all. I went to urgent care and a quick strep test came back negative. The doctor said to have a mono test if symptoms last another 10 days, and I would have, except 3 days later my husband noticed some pus on his tonsils. His were not at all swollen or sore.
It has now been 3 weeks and my tonsils are better but not completely back to normal.
My husbands WERE better, but are now getting swollen and more pus (still no pain at all or fever).
I am hesitant to go to the doctor because we're in a new town, and lets face it, finding a non-ignorant doctor can be tough. Husband doesn't have medical insurance, so if we do go to the doctor we're making the 300 mile trip back home to see one I trust, AND he'll have to take off of work. Read: going to the dr will cost a good $1000 between gas, missed work and doctor bills.
SO, I thought I'd write here as a second-to-last resort.
Could it be allergies since we recently moved? Could it be a mild bacterial infection from something in the water? (This town is FILTHY)
Thanks!
