Hello all. I was hoping one of you had some insight for me.
I'm now 23 years old. In fall 2007 I started experiencing pins and needles in my left arm and weakness in the same arm. I was also having headaches, so my doctor sent me for an MRI of the brain. The result was four spots of increased flair signal and a fluid or mucus collection near my right temple. I went to a neurologist who ran every test: EMG, EEG, evoked battery, and complete neurological work-up. He found nothing abnormal. I had another MRI, no change. I started taking antiseizure medications as it was now believed that my headaches were mini seizures causing the symptoms. He left the office I was going to and I saw the doctor that took over for him, another neurologist. He did another complete work-up. He saw no need for antiseizure meds since they weren't helping and he didn't believe that was the cause. I saw a cardiologist because now it had developed to palpitations and pain in my chest. I had an EKG, normal. I also had an exercise stress test and they had to stop the test 4 minutes in because my heart was racing so fast on the monitor. But the cardiologist figured I just didn't work out a lot. Then I went to an audiologist to test my hearing, which was now an issue. She said I had sensori neural hearing loss, which was believed to be due to normal every day causes. I saw an ophthalmologist (I already wore glasses). Besides uping my prescription, she ran a visual field test and noted that my right eye lid was drooping and I was developing a lazy right eye (never had as a child). That test was normal. I then had another MRI of the brain, no change. I had an MRI of my cervical spine, straightening of the normal cervical lardosis but yet again was not believed to be causing my symptoms. An MRA of my brain showed no abnormalities. I was getting fed up since it was now two year since all this had begun. I went to a third neurologist. He sent me for another EMG, normal, and an MRI lumbar spine, 3 herniated discs and a cyst on the nerve root. He sent me to physical therapy, which didn't help at all. Now I was developing terrible pain in my left hip and thigh. It's absolutely a horrible, burning pain when I sit down for more than a few seconds...worse on hard surfaces. It causes so many problems in my life as you can imagine. He did a third complete neurological work-up and found nothing wrong. He did some bloodwork and found that my ANA was high and several components of my CBC (which were always normal in the past) were now out of whack. He sent me to a rheumatologist. She tested me for lyme disease, lupus, myasthenia gravis, rheumatoid arthritis, and a bunch of other things. Everything was normal except my serum gravity was high. A few weeks later she retested it and it was normal. She told me "you stumped me" and sent me back to the neurologist. She wrote him a letter telling him that she thought I had MS. The neurologit doesn't think so because there hasn't been any new spots on my brain MRI, but I haven't had one in probably 18 months. I repeated the audiology exam. This time it was normal and the audiologist suggested it was the technique used the first time that produced those results. The MRI of my lumbar spine was repeated, this time it showed arthritis and a new mass on my uterus. I saw a gynecologist who ordered a pelvic sono. That showed no fibroids but suggested further testing for adenomyomas. Then I had a x-ray of my hip and that came back normal. I still have the elevated ANA, CBC results out of whack, severe pain in my left hip, pins and needles in both upper and lower extemities, headaches on the left side of my head, back pain.....
Please help me! Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on or any advice for me?? I can't keep having doctors tell me it's all in my head when I'm feeling so bad. Now that summer is coming around, the heat is making it all worse. Should I be seeing a new specialist? I need some insight please. thank you so much for any help you can give.
