Since August 8th 2009 I have had constant headaches. They vary in severity yet never go away totally. Today I have had a very bad headache which is worrying me again. The pain and also the amount of meds I end up taking. I have been unable to find any relief. In this time I have been to 4 different PCPs, a Neurologist, a Heart Specialist, and a Chiropractor. I have been on many meds including Vicodin, Percocet, Relpax, and various blood pressure meds. I also take advil on a daily basis. The amount I take varies on how I am feeling.
Right now the pain is mainly on the left side of my head/face/neck. Normally though I have a squeezing pressure across my head from temple to temple with the strongest pain on the top of my skull. The best I can describe it is that someone is squeezing my head/skull. With this pain I have experienced numbness in face/lips/cheeks, blurry vision, nausea, diarrhea, goose bumps on my arms and legs, and dizziness. Usually as the pain starts to build I become very clumsy.
I have yet to find answers from Drs. They continue to put me on more medications. I have had MRI, CATScan, bloodwork, EKG's and other tests done also.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Since you have a headache almost daily, what you have is in all probability not a simple migraine but a chronic daily headache (CDH). This can be the primary type—without any cause. One simple reason for daily headaches with nausea is compression of cervical spinal nerves. Another reason is TMJ, especially if the headache starts with chewing. The third reason could be severe acidity with or without GERD. The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, temporal arteritis etc. Hence all these need to be ruled out. If the headache lasts for less than 4 hours then it could be a chronic cluster headache or a chronic paroxysmal hemicranias. If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once. It is difficult to diagnose the cause of headaches on net. Sinusitis, refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache can cause similar symptoms. Please consult a headache and migraine specialist to rule out these causes one by one. Take care!
