Sick for three months

I have been sick for the past three months and it seems it is not letting up. I have been tested for mono and CMV, but the doctor has yet to give me my results and mono has came back negative 3 times. They had also found that my thyroid levels are low, so they are sending me to a endocrinologist. I am just curious on what else they may test me on. My symptoms include fever (usually around 103), tiredness (I sleep up to 18 hours a day and even when I wake up, I am still exhausted) and fatigue.

You should be able to get the CMV results from your main doctor- I hope they give them to you in short order!  Weight gain is typically what happens w/hypothyroidism, so I'm glad they are sending you to an endocrinologist.

I have been depressed, but they ruled out depression because it is a side effect of the thyroid.

They had said they thought it was hypothyroidism, an they put me on some medication, but I started to get rare side effects and they then took me off of it. The CMV test was about a month ago, but my main doctor had sent the results to the endocrinologist, but I don't think I can wait until July to find out.

They may want to look at your hypothalamus gland, which regulates temperature in your body.

Have you ever had a sleep study done or had CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) considered/ruled out by a doctor in regards to your sleeping and tiredness?

If your thyroid isn't functioning properly it can cause a heap of problems making you feel sick. Also when sleeping too much you can make yourself feel tired. Try to sleep 7 hours one night and see how your feel. Also have you ruled out neurological issues like depression?

Was it your thyroid hormones that were low or was it your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone)?  If it was the latter, low TSH can correlate to high levels of thyroid hormone, which can have weight loss as a symptom.  Thyroiditis can have fever as a symptom.  (See private message for more info.)

A friend of ours started losing weight and not feeling so great and it turned out he had developed diabetes.  When you go to an endocrinologist, if you haven't already had an Hg A1c (Hb A1C) test to check on your blood sugar, they probably will be testing you for that.

Also, with your tiredness, they may want to rule out adrenal fatigue at an endocrinologist's office.

How long has it been since your CMV test?  If results should be back and the doctor office is not responding to your requests for those results, you may want to verify/check with the lab that/if your results ever came back or if something happened!

What about stool test ? . Could be yeast overgrowth and some bacterial imbalance .

Also, I have lost about 25-30 pounds. Though I thought that shouldn't happen because of my thyroid.
