I think you can get pyridium there, or other urinary tract anesthetic pill. It will turn your urine fluorescent orange, so wear a pantiliner, but it will make the burning stop. It does not treat the infection. Since you have what they call gross hematuria (the blood in the urine shows), I don't think it will go away on its own and you will probably need antibiotics.
Drinking the bicarb and lemon water, wiill also stop the burning, because it neutralises the acidic urine.
Yesterday I drank TONS of water and throughout the day I saw no blood. But in the morning there was a little blood again. Is the blood going away just the result of drinking large amounts of water? I haven't located bicarbonate of soda yet, but my husband assures me we can find it here. But even just lots of water seems to be taking away most of the burning and stinging.
I agree with the aforementioned statements. It is most likely a bacteria. You are in a foreign country and your body has never been given the opportunity to create immunity to foreign bacteria. Do you have travellers medical coverage? The antibiotics they use there may be more geared towards their local bacterias.
The water is helping to flush out the bacteria. You may not see the blood, because it is sometimes only very minute and can only be identified by lab tests or by Parameter Urine Regeant Strips.
The Bicarbonate of Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate is another name for Bicar of Soda or Baking Soda) can be purchased from a supermarket store in the baking section (do not get baking powder, this is made up of bicarb and cream of tarta). Sometimes a chemist sells it.
This will not kill off any bacteria, but will help reduce the inflammation in your bladder, neutralise the acidity that causes the discomfort and burning when you urinate.
If you are OK without the Bicarb, that is great. Keep drinking the water throughout the day so you do not become dehydrated. 2-3 litres is recommended, but at the moment you will need to drink about 3 litres per day.
Without an antibiotic it will go with you drinking the water, but will take a little longer.
If you find your symptoms do start to get worse, you will have to find a doctor to prescribe you with an antibiotic.
Be a little more gentle with the love making and have a wee soon after intercourse, it you cannot wash straight away.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
When you wipe, wipe from front to back to stop the bacteria from the back coming near the urinary opening.
As you have been having a lot of sex, this could be the cause. Sometimes Cystitis is called as the honeymoon disease.
If you can get anything over the counter for cystitis to kill off the bacterial causing it that would be great. I do not know anything about India.
If you can buy some Bicarbonate of Soda, you can drink a tumbler of water with one teaspoonful in. You can do this one every hour for a maximum of 3 times. If you suffer from high blood pressure, reduce the dosage to half a teaspoonful. You can also use the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon and drink that mixed with water. Although lemons are acidic, the composition of the juice changes once it reaches the stomach.
What the Bicar and lemon juice will do is to neutralise the acidity of your urine that is causing you the stinging.
You are doing the right thing with drinking a lot of water, as this helps to flush out the bugs.
Best wishes
