Very concerned.

I have a very hard lump under my skin on the back of my head behind my left ear.. the area burns and has a numbing pain to it. It does not hurt to the touch and it's about the size of a grape. This is bothering me and i'm very worried

Well my friend told me about a Jewish hospital that takes anyone insurance or not
i went and they took a look and it turned out to be a severe lymph node infection.

That would explain why i been getting sick so easily so proscribed me Sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 tablets twice a day. I really hope this helps get rid of this.

Thank you doctornee

Well i went to the doctor yesterday and they would not even spit in my direction without insurance.. and I doubt this would even be considered an emergency
And it's gotten bigger and more painful and it's deep under the skin nothing to do with hair. It's more located father back behind my left ear far from any of the tubes it's right next to the large blood vessel at the lower left base of my skull... I'm running out of options here i even went to the emergency room and they also turned me away due to insurance... Also they claim it's nothing to worry about i got a bit angry at the fact they would ignore me in such a away..

if it is behind your ear then you might have a infection or your ears are draining, just go to doc and see if that person can look and see if you have an infection...brittany

That doesn't sound good. it almost sounds like a bunion, but around the ear opening instead of the joint of a toe. Id get that looked at asap if i was you.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is difficult to comment without examination.  Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). However swollen lymphnodes behind your ears could be due to chest infection, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, dandruff, infection of ear or even metastasis from a cancer. It could also be of tubercular pathology.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
