What causes a shooting pain and then the veins in my hand to bulge

If anyone can help me I need to know if this is a serious issue or just nothing at all to worry about.  I sometimes get a sharp pain in one or the other of my hands and then a vein will bulge this is always in one of my palms, does anyone have any idea what might cause this?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Sharp pain in one or the other hand can be due to pinched nerves, atherosclerosis of peripheral artery, deep vein thrombosis of a peripheral vein or due to carpal tunnel syndrome. You will need nerve conduction studies and color dopplar for confirmation.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
