THank you!
anything else from anybody else???
It could be a whole lot of things but what you are experiencing isn't uncommon. Me personally, I wouldn't be too concerned. But if you are having other symptoms like abdominal pain, swelling, constipation, loose or bloody stools, fever, I would see a doctor. You should try taking probiotics daily (yogurt is a good way just make sure it contains live bacteria cultures). This is beneficial for your stomach intestines and colon. And of course a healthy diet. If the mucous doesn't go away and is bothering you, definately see a doctor for peace of mind.
Take care!
Mucus, a translucent, jelly like substance that appears in the stool is produced by mucous glands that line the small and large intestine. Certain amount of mucus is regularly present in normal stools in healthy persons.
You may notice excess mucus in the following:

- Fructose malabsorption
- Lactose intolerance (symptoms appear after dairy)
- Food allergies
- Celiac disease (symptoms appear after eating gluten containing cereals: wheat, barley and rye)
Internal haemorrhoids
Intestinal parasites
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
Small intestinal or colonic polyps
Constipation
Diarrhea
Bowel obstruction from a polyp, cancer, volvulus, intussusception, or swallowed foreign object
Food Poisoning
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases such as Crohn's Disease
Colorectal cancer
Is it possible you have a parasite like threadworms?
