Undiagnosed heel pain

For the last week I have noticed this pain in my left heel. It started after mowing the lawn and twisting my foot and almost falling over, mower and all, when my foot tell into a rut in the grass. The next day it was quite painful, enough to wake me from a dead sleep. When at rest it feels like I'm stepping on a small metal ball dead center in the middle of my heel. There is also some pain on the inside of my foot between the ankle and Achilles tendon. I have tried taping it, as you would for a bruised heel; i have tried ice, heat, hot baths, etc but the pain is still there.... Any suggestions on what this could be and how to treat would be WONDERFUL!!!!

Hi Swatts831
Yes it could be plantars. I had it for along time and did very very slight stretches a few times a day. I walked up on a step and brought the bad leg back so that the heel just barely hangs off the edge of the step and put only slight pressure downwards . Do 6 reps of this. ALso you can do the one where you lean on a countertop and bring the leg backwards until your heel is off the ground and put very slight pressure down. Also, there are things you can buy that stretch the achilles at night but I never could use them. For walking I bought some walking shoes specically for plantars that gives you stabiity and you don't want a flexible sole in your shoe.  If you can bend it at all it is too soft. Orfhofeet has good shoes. I used brooks but get what is comfortable for you. It takes a long time to get over this but you will. Be patient. Since the tendon is prtruding from your foot you may want to see a doctor to see if you didn't sprain the tendon or something. My tendon didn't protrude. For me it hurt to sleep on my back because I felt pain on the heels. When I walked it hurt so I got gel inserts. But it took about 6 months to get over.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for both of your comments. I'm now beginning to think this is Plantar Fasciitis. When I flex my food you can see the ligament protruding from my foot. It runs from the ball of the foot all the way to my heel. I have found several exercises that seem to be helping but they are really painful! Just walking is painful.....

It  does sound like a bruise or a sprain. I had something similar a few years ago. I used magnesium oil on it, a natural muscle relaxant that takes some of the strain of it.

You may have bruised the bone. It probably will heal on its own. You might want to get a doctors opinion just in case you may have sprain or a fracture. But that may be what it is. If it is a bone spur or a bruised bone you may try getting heal gel inserts like from Dr. Scholls for a while.
