carpal tunell release???

I am 29yrs. old and have just had tests done to confirm i have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. My right hand is worse and the doc said i'll have to have surgery on both hands (at serperate times). Want to know what to expect as they said the original hospital i was sent to them by will explain everything but i am anxious to find out asap. Will i have it under general or local anestethic? How long for recovery time ect. Will be gratefull for any help??

My Mom had the surgery done on both of her hands. I'm not sure what meds were used, but it was only minor surgery. She was home within hours of the operation and noticed a difference right away. For the time being, if you can stand the smell, rub some kind of muscle rub creme on them. This may help with the pain until you have the surgery.
