help

Hi, I have a heap of symptoms. My GP likes to tell me it's a virus ( in other words he has no idea).

They are:

Blood in stolls
Aching bones
Sore muscles
Short of breath
Stiff joints
Pressure on chest
abdominal swelling
Mucle weakness

Any suggestions would be great. I have had this for 6 weeks now, been to hospital twice with suspected swine flu, bronchitis and tested for heart attack and angina. No joy. Recently the blood in stoolls occured so back for more blood tests.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the comments. Saw the GP again yesterday. He has booked me for Echocardiogram, Colonoscopy, Endoscopy and has taken blood for various other things. So I have alot of prodding of my body coming up, but best to make sure eveything is how it should be. He is still sure the symptoms are still remaining from a virus.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Since there is blood which you can see, it is coming from the lower gut. This can happen in hemorrhoids, rectal polyps, diverticulosis (outpouchings from the bowel wall), inflammatory bowel disease, or dysentery.
In hemorrhoids the blood falls after the stool. In fissures it lines the stools. In all other problems the blood is mixed with stools.
Blood loss can explain most of the symptoms like shortness of breath, muscle and bone pain, and pressure in chest. IBS can cause abdominal swelling.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
