Bruise of a Handprint

Dear Doc,

My daughter fell at school a few days ago and an hour later (before any bruise appeared) her brother slapped her in the same spot where she fell. She now has a bruise of his hand on her leg. When I questioned them about what happened my daughter said that he didn't hit her hard, they were just playing. I have asked several different medical professionals and gotten a few different answers.

Mainly, my question for you is.... Is it possible that when she fell she busted blood vessels that would have formed a bruise, but when my son hit her the blood printed his hand as the bruise?

Thank you.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
After your daughter fell, a bruise would have developed if fragile blood vessels had ruptured. When her brother hit her, the impact on the same place got distributed to the area covered by the palm and hence the print of palm came up as a bruise.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Yes it is very possible that your sons handprint can be seen in the spot your daughter fell over on because the blood probably hadnt settled yet to form the bruise and when he did that it moved the blood which was almost set as a imprint on her leg

Hope this helps
