Scoliosis fro accident was started.
I would recommend that you have your family doctor do blood work. You should have a complete physical. Make sure the blood work checks your calcium levels and vitamin D levels. We believe my son contracted lyme disease when he was 10. We lived in Texas at the time and he was in the sun every day. There was no reason for him to become Vit. D deficient. He now suffers from chronic fatigue and many other problems. This is why we are checking for lyme disease. This is not something you should need to have checked unless you have other health conditions. Good Luck
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A true scoliosis is not possible by car wreck. However, if there is injury to spine or fracture, then fracture segments can bend while fusing and cause a curvature in the spine. Due to severe back ache, one may also assume a bent posture.
Hope this helps. Take care!
I have never heard of someone getting scoliosis this way. It usually develops during the teen age years when the body is developing rapidly. My son developed scoliosis when he was 14 and no one in my family or husbands family has this. One thing my son does have is vitamin D deficiency. His vitamin D levels were very low and we did not discover this until he was about 18. I have read that vitamin D has a big impact on the growth and formation of your bones especially in childhood. My son is now getting tested for lyme disease. Lyme disease causes extreme low vitamin D levels. One thing always effects another.
It is very possible if the wreck was high impact.I would see a scoliosis specialist they will be able to tell you for sure.Good Luck!!
