shortness of breath

I have woke up in the middle of the night twice with heaviness in my neck and feeling as though I could not get enough air It is a very scary feeling. After a while of trying to relax I fell asleep propped up on pillows.  My b/p has been below my norm,  HR is 60, I usually run low. I am currently taking antibiotics for suspected endometrioitis.I am 46, fairly good health, except for being down the last couple of wks. with this abdo. pain.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply, very good info. I am new to this whole site and  I am enjoying it. Something else is going on that I did not go into. About 3 weeks ago I started feeling worn out and feverish felt as though I might have a UTI  or maybe a cyst on ovarie, my abdom. was very sore all over. Pain become severe went too ER, wbc 29000 ^, given inj. of Rocep. and oral antibio. X ray was clear.
Still feeling bad after visit to ER, ( 28 Sept), Have been back to Dr. 2 x since visit to ER he put me on new antibio.I've been on them for a week today. I am scheduled for a ct scan tomorrow. Feeling tired and this low grade fever is really wearing me down. CBC showed all norm as of today.abdom pain not as bad as in the beginning.
The 2 episodes of dyspnea started the night I came home from ER, and then again this past Sun. night.  hope I didn't jumble this up too much. Thank you,

Hello,
There are many causes for these types of symptoms.Firstly,it can be due to panic attack and might be stress induced. Panic attacks are sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, stomach problems and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms.
Treatment includes anti anxiety medicines(available on prescription by a physician).Secondly,it can be GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease).Try raising the head end of the bed by 2-3 blocks and take soft, bland diet for a few days. Also take your dinner 2 hrs prior to bedtime. You can also take antacids like Mylanta and prilosec and observe for any change in symptoms.
Other conditions that can cause feeling of difficulty in breathing while sleeping are laryngo-tracheitis,epiglottitis,tracheo-esophageal fistula, obstructive sleep apnea and Huntigston’s disease.Pls get yourself evaluated by a physician or ENT specialist for these.
Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing.
