Dr ignores symptoms

I have severe iron deficiency anemia. First iron transfusion 5 years ago when iron (ferriten) level 9 and hbg 9.2. Dr.was very concerned and it was treated as emergency. As each year goes by I am treated as a hypochondriac. Last levels were iron of 2 and hbg of 7.9. I begged for infusion and was told I needed to learn to deal with it!!!!!!! Why was 9 emergent but now 2 is fine. I was even told that"women in 3rd world countries have low counts and they're able to birth babies, work job and care for families". I can't even get out of bed. Help please!

Hello~

This is awful, is there anyway you can see another doctor? If you can, please do ASAP, have another blood series drawn and demand answers and help. I am so sorry you are going through this.

That's criminal they aren't helping you. I had a blood transfusion when my hemoglobin was at 7.9. They never cared about my ferritin, which made me mad because you can have normal hemoglobin and low ferritin. I had to supplement with iron pills.

You need to switch doctors.
Can you get someone/an ambulance to take you to the hospital for an emergency iron infusion?

Have you looked into pernicious anemia?
Do you also have issues with Vitamin B12 levels?
