unexplained head pain/ faintness

Hello. My name is Caitlyn and I'm 22 years old.
I was at work tonight, waiting tables, when I heard a sudden "pop" noise coming from within my head.  It was followed by sudden pain and a headache and also dizziness, blurred vision, and faintness. I didn't actually faint but became really unbalanced and had to sit down.  I panicked. I've never felt that way before.  My coworkers panicked as well and sent for the paramedics.  By the time help got there, I was experiencing a full blown anxiety attack.  I've had panic attacks before and am familiar with the symptoms.  But these symptoms were completely different; the sudden pain began in my head, not in my chest which is an indicator to me that I might have a panic attack. So the paramedics and I decided that maybe what was happening was in fact an attack.  I didn't go to the hospital, but I did go home.  I don't currently have a headache anymore but I am feverish, queasy, and feeling weak.

I've been experiencing other odd sensations that I have no explanation for.  For example, I get a tensation like trickling water down the side of my face sometimes, particularly the right side.  At other times I feel that same "trickling" feeling on areas on top of my head/skull or like a needle or an ice cube is being pressed on the area. I don't know if it is relevant to what happened tonight at work, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I feel like I'm going crazy. Can you please explain what is happening to me? Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Caitlyn

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The symptoms you are having are either due to panic attacks or due to conditions like diabetic neuropathy, high BP, cervical spinal nerve compression or due to conditions like benign intracranial hypertension. Consult a doctor and get your blood pressure checked and blood sugar tested. If these are normal then it has to be assessed whether you had a vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms are mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc.  A tilt table test, holter monitor, echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis. Vit B 12 and Vit D deficiency is another possibility.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

In addition...

I've also been experiencing some strange feels like I'm being shocked. I don't know how else to explain the feeling... sometimes this "shock" occurs in my chest, right below my sternum, or it happens in my leg, forearm, or hand. Its position of origin varies alot, but the "shock wave" flows throughout my entire body and hurts. You know the feeling in your chest when you get startled by something and it sort of makes your heart skip a beat and takes your breath away? Thats sort of what it feels like. But it hurts, and lingers a lot longer. This has been occuring since January this year. My doctor diagnosed me anxiety and depression. But I really am looking for second opinions because my symptoms, at least not all of them, don't seem consistent with a single diagnosis like anxiety.

I am going to visit a doctor soon, but any advice/help is truly appreciated. I just want to feel alright again.

Sincerely,
Caitlyn
