Is it ordinary to have protein in urine with a UTI

I have recurrent UTI's but usually no protein in the urine.  This time there is protein besides the usual white blood cells, etc.  The bacteria is gram positive and I have been put on ampicillin.  Will the protein go away after the infection is cleared?
