Blunt trauma to top of testicle

For starters, roughly last week (Tues. 1/13/09) I laid down in the morning on my stomach only to feel an extremely sharp knife-like pain just ABOVE the right sided testicle as it impacted. Since then, I haven't been able to sleep on my right or left side because of the on set of the pain at that same spot. I'm forced to sleep on my back for the time being. When I lift the testicle slightly, I feel the same sharp shooting pain that orginates just above the right-sided testicle. I am able to walk, but I do so carefully as to not injure myself even more. If I don't move that side of the testicle, I have just a very slight ache in the area.  I don' t have fever, nausea,  vomitting,. All my pain orginates just a little above the right testicle. Any advice community or Doctors? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

First of all, thank you for your response Dr Veena. I actually have had epdidymitis before and know the pain usually orginates from the BACK of the testicles (either one) and not the top of it where the spermatic cord is. My pain from this injury comes from the upper front top region of the right sided testicle just where the testicle itself hangs down from. No swelling, redness, or warmth. Thank you again for your time Dr. Veena.

Hi,
How are you? Pain in the upper back region of the testicle indicates, epididymitis. There is less chances of trauma, as that would have caused severe pain. Dull aching could also be caused due to varicocele, enlarged hydrocele, orchitis etc.
Is there any swelling, redness and warmth in that area? I would suggest that you visit a urologist for examination and further advise on treatment.
Best.
