SO IF THEY DO A URINE CULTURE AND HE SAID MY WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO HAVE AN STD IS WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME
Hi,
Oral sex can also transmit some STDs, such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc. If you have tested negative for STDs, specifically on the antigen tests for chlamydia, then it rules out an STD. The course of doxycycline you are on should help clear up the chlamydia, if you have an infection.
Persistent pain in the penis or pain associated with urination or ejaculation can be due to prostatitis. Prostate infections are not usually picked up on urinalysis. Prostate fluid analysis can reveal an infection or inflammation of the prostate but is usually preceded by a digital rectal examination of the prostate.
If an organism is detected, ensure that culture sensitivity is done so as to identify the antibiotic it is sensitive to. If diagnosed with prostatitis you will need to be on antibiotics for 15-21 days and maybe even longer.
Additionally, ensure that you avoid prostate irritants, such as caffeine, alcohol, citrus juices, spicy foods, etc., increase fluid intake, and avoid sitting for prolonged periods of time.
