45 yr old, Caucasian Male, 5'10", 190 lbs that went through the past 5 years of rather heavy drinking alcohol. During the last 6 months, Drinking was increased to about a liter of vodka nightly. I stopped drinking alcohol abruptly and have not had any alcohol in 5 weeks. Since that time, I have noticed an urgency to urinate several times daily and nightly that yield only about half of the normal urine as I am accustomed to. What are the possibilities that could cause this? I have diabetes and cancer in grandparents (passed). Hypoglycemia in mother and heart failure in father(passed). I drink coffee almost daily 2 to 3 cups. No dehydration or increase in thirst. No soft drinks in diet. Currently, only beverages are tea, water, milk(with cereal). Slightly overweight for my build. I ride a bike almost daily(30 mins) for work, not really to exercise. Probably not STD related (been 3 years without). When the urgency comes on it is very strong and I must relieve it within a few minutes of onset. Thank you for your time.
The symptoms are suggestive of urge incontinence. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist for the same and getting the uroflowmetry test done which actually tests the emptying of the urinary bladder. There are drugs to take care of the urge incontinence like oxybutinin but this needs to be taken only after consulting a urologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
