My problem

In December of last year, I had protected sex with a partner (not my wife) once.  A few days after that, the tip of my penis began to hurt.  It was a dull pain and just on the surface.  There was never any discharge from my penis.  I had a number of exams and urine tests but they all come back normal.  A few weeks later, I began to have bladder problems.  At first it was just frequence unrination and later on have problem emptying my bladder.  My urulogist first thought it was prostate enlargement and prescribed Flowmax and then switched to Tarasozin.  Later he decided it was prostate infection and give me 30 days of Cipro.  I am about half way into the 30 days now but it doesn't seems to help.  Lately when i examine the tip of my penis, it looks like there are very small bumps on the surface.  Another symptom i have is problem urinating while sitting down.  Sometime I have to return to the bathroom soon after I poop so I could pee.  I am 42 years old and in basically good health before this.

Urinalysis was done more then once and the result were normal but I don't know what is prostate secretion.  The urulogist did rectal exam on me and he said the prostate was enlarged.  The last time he did the rectal exam, it hurted.  There is no pain sitting down but there is presure on the base of my scrotum.  I've read other posts in this forum that said pain on the tip of penis maybe related to prostate, why is that?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This sounds like a prostatic infection. Prostate infections may not readily  resolve even if antibiotics have been initiated. It is important however that they should be treated appropriately to prevent involvement of nearby structures. This may require modification of your current medications. Was a urinalysis done and prostate secretion culture done in the beginning of the consult? The results of the culture should aid medical therapy. You have mentioned of pain when sitting down. Was a digital rectal examination done to note any tenderness or swelling of the prostate?
