Semen color and doxycycline

Urologist put me on 10 days of Doxycycline. I took the complete dosage and the day after my last dose, when I masturbated, my semen was thick, and yellow. Almost like mucus.

Is this a normal side effect of the medication ?

She put me on it due to urethritis and what she felt was prostatitis...

It just seemed strange the thickness and color but I know medications can do things like that.

Thanks.

Hi. I had normal coloured semen. Then my dumb urologist put me on Doxycycline suspecting prostatitis although there were no symptoms. I was not very certain about him but still initiated the month-long course. Went to another Uro who told me that i do not have prostatitis and it is just vasocongestion from not ejaculating for a while. I still completed the course of Doxy in December. By ever since then my semen has had this yellow colour. It was normal before the Doxy course. So people please be wary of taking Doxycycline.

@Deadpoolt, how is it now?
At times, a tint of it remains. My urologist told me that the colour change is due to the actual colour of the semen. The whitish part is contributed by the liquid from the prostate. So if it is more yellow, then there is more sperm than prostate fluid that is coming out, according to him.

Well, yellow semen is resulting from prostatitis. If your semen looks yellow then you're probably not cured yet. It could also be anxiety (seeing too much).

Good luck.
