Sharp Pain after urination

Hello,

I am currently a 23 year old male and I have been having sharp pains after (not during) urination which lasts between 3-6 minutes.  It occurred 6 months ago, and has been on and off, usually occurring four times within that time period, lasting 2-4 days. I have not had sexual activity for the last 18 months so a walk-in doctor assumed, and ruled out a possible STD.  He took urine samples and saw nothing.  There is no pain at any time during the day other than after urination.  The pain is simply unbearable.  Urine looks to be a bit cloudy and yellow.  My diet has been relatively the same, although I do not track this.  The pain will usually be in the penis area, although I have felt pain in the lower abdomen area as well.  Not sure what to do.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Sharp pain after urination with cloudiness usually is a result of infection. I would suggest that you get a STD panel done along with urine analysis and culture.
Pain in penis and lower abdomen can be due to balanitis.
Consult a urologist with the reports for further assistance.
Best.
