Testicular pain

I sat down to play with my kids yesterday with a tight pair of shorts and noticed some discomfort in my left testicle.  It was behind the testicle and also when  I slightly squeezed the testicle.  After walking in the mall for a while it stayed the same.  Today the pain is less but I have a dull ache in my groin area and a little pain when I bend over.  Lower back pain aswell (could be unrelated). Should I see my physician (could take a few days and I just saw her last week for my arthritis in my shoulder) or go to the walk in clinic earliest available time, or not go at all since the pain seems to be fading.  I am 33 and slightly overweight.

Any help would be appreciated.

A high protein level and blood in the urine indicates a urinary infection.
Sometimes the blood can be from the prostate.

Pain in the scrotum can be referred from the bladder and prostate.  The testicles and the epididymis (the gland in between the testicles) can also become infected and can cause pain.  If the infection is in the testicles this is called Orchitis.  Epididymis infection is called Epididymitis.  Sometimes the infection is in the testicles as well as in the epididymis (forgot what the infection is called when the two are involved).

It is always wise to check out any pain that you get down below.  If it is left too long it will take much longer to treat.

You require antibiotics which I hope the walk in clinic prescribed for you.
If not, then see your doctor as soon as possible.  If they did give you an antibiotic, then make an appointment to see the doctor when you have finished the medication and take a morning urine sample with you.

In the mean time make sure that you drink plenty of water 2-3 litres per day.  As you have a infection I would recommend the 3 litres to help to flush out the bacteria.

Your doctor can do blood tests to check your PSA levels (prostate) and kidney function.  He may decide to refer you for ultrasound scans or xrays to see if you have any urinary stones.

Wishing you a speeding recovery.

Thanks life....answer much appreciated.  Before I saw your comment I actually made a trip to the walk in clinic.  They found high protein 100++ and blood in urine (I didn't see any, sheet said mod).  Anyone have any clue what this is and if it totally unrelated.  I have already convinced myself that my kidneys are damaged.

Hi and welcome. Being male myself i have done the same thing. The tight pants squeezed your testes and you know as well as i that even touching them can be painful. Im not a doctor but think its just a normal reaction down there. If i went to the doctor every time this happened to me, id be up to about 2000 trips to date. It also happens to me at work. Just sitting with my legs crossed in the wrong position causes the same pain.
