Ureteral stone and fever for weeks..worse at evening and night

I am 25 years old male. Almost 16 days ago, I felt severe pain in my left abdominal. It lasted for more than 2 hours until doctor gave me a pain killer. Then, I got some tests including X-ray, blood and Ultrasonograph. The tests showed blood in urine and increase in total WBC count. Nothing came in X-ray. So I was told that I had severe ureter infection.  He prescribed me to take 750mg (generic name: Cefuroxime) IV after every 10 hours. So I started taking it. I was also told to go for a CT scan. I had urine culture too. It showed “NO Growth”. Finally after 3days, the doctor said that I had a 3.2mm stone in my lower left ureter, close to the opening of the of the ureter. He give me one week of time to wait and continue the medicine. This time he changed the 750mg IV, and prescribed 500mg tablet. I already  took shots of the IV for eight times. He also added a medicine to help the stone pass out naturaly(can’t remember the name.) But soon after it, I started feeling fever. It stays most of the time, especially at evening and night ranging from 101-102 degree. It’s been 10days I have been suffering from this evening-night fever. I am not having any abdominal, back pain or urine problem. Recently I visited another doctor. He asked for urine test and widal test. That came clean. Then he prescribed me these medicines (generic names): Omeprazole 20mg, Azithromycin 500mg,Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN, and Paracetamol 500mg. So I have started taking these medicines again. The new doctor asked for a new ultrasono. So I did that again from another hospital. This time the stone showed up at different size-7mm. Moreover after checking it the doctor suspected that it could be a calcium deposit since it didn’t show some kinda shadow in the untrasono. So he told me to continue with his medicine for one more week. Then he will decide what to do. The thing is I am not having any regular ureteral stone symtomps so far except the day I had the pain. But I have this fever that is bothering me a lot. I am feeling so helpless and worried. Is it for any stone? Or for taking too much high power antibiotics? Or for infection? But the second urine test came pretty much clean. What about the stone and its size? Please help me. What should I do?

Thanks for your insights. I wish my doctors could tell me these things that you have mentioned. I have been under lots of mental stress because of this issue. Medical system is not bad here in my country. But some doctors don't pay much attention to details. I mentioned about the fever to my doctor, but he didn't seem that much to believe my words. The doctor thinks its because of urine infection(though last urine test showed normal result). Moreover, he doubted about the stone. He thinks it might be a calcium due to some kind of visual interpretation of ultrasono. So I am kinda confused and more worried to know that. Thanks again.

I actually didn't have a fever with any of my stones but it is very common to have that.  If the stone is close to the bladder, it is more likely to cause frequent urination or urgency but when closer to the kidney, that wouldn't necessarily be the case.  It is also possible that you have a kidney infection but the antibiotics should be taking care of that if you do.  Your profile says you are from Bangladesh.  I'm not sure what the medical system is like there.  Here in the states, my surgery was quick and easy.  Having the stent in afterward was the worst of it and even that wasn't horrible.  It was much better than what I experienced with the stone in there.

Have you had frequent urination or a sense that you need to go RIGHT NOW?  I have had half a dozen kidney stones.  I passed all but the last one.  The last one was stuck in my ureter and I had it removed surgically.  I wish I would have had the surgery sooner rather than waiting a couple weeks hoping it would pass.  The fever is probably a result of the stone and the sooner you can get it out, the better.
